About the Heidelberg University
Established in 1386, Heidelberg University is the oldest in Germany. It began teaching students the very next day. Currently, Heidelberg University has over 32,000 students and over 190 study courses. Some of these subjects include arts, law, social sciences, medicine, and natural sciences. Heidelberg University also has a campus in Germany that is the largest site for scientific and medical education in all of Germany. Heidelberg is also part of the list of top universities both in Germany and all over the world.
Heidelberg University is known for many popular programs, particularly in medicine, sciences, law, and management. The medicine course is for six years, with a small semester fee only. Programs such as Molecular Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biosciences, and Translational Medical Research are heavily focused on research, with low tuition fees, in most cases, no tuition fee is paid. Health Economics is a master’s program, shorter in duration, relating to both business and healthcare fields. Even in these programs, only semester fees are paid in most cases. Heidelberg University is highly attractive due to affordability, especially for international students.
Heidelberg University has an excellent worldwide reputation. It is always in the top three universities in Germany. In international rankings, it normally ranks in the top 100 universities globally. In areas where it excels, it ranks number one in Germany in medicine and life sciences. Also in law, it ranks among the top. A number of Nobel Prize winners have passed through Heidelberg University for either study or work. Heidelberg University is referred to as a “University of Excellence.” Heidelberg University has excellent research and international renown in many faculties, including science, medicine, and law.
Heidelberg University assists students in having successful career paths, but it does not have fixed campus placements as in the case of Indian universities. It provides career assistance, job websites, career fairs, and networking opportunities through alumni for guidance to the students. It also organizes sessions like resume writing, interviews, and projects, such as planning and working as a team. Many students get employment or pursue further studies through their hard work. They generally have high pay scales, especially after doing a master's. Leading companies such as SAP, ABB, and Cement companies of Heidelberg select students from here.
