Established in 1845 the university of Galway began its operation, named Queen’s College Galway. It officially admitted students on October 30, 1849, initially with a small population of 68 students. It is now one of Ireland’s popular universities. The campus of this university is quite huge, covering 260 acres, and lies along the River Corrib. It is close to the center of Galway City. There are more than 90 buildings on this campus. The oldest and most famous one is the classic-stone-structured Quadrangle. The University of Galway delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The University has five major colleges. At the undergraduate level, one of the most popular courses offered is BSc Computer Science & IT. In THE Ranking 2025, it ranks between 351 and 400 globally and ranks 64th in the world in terms of sustainability. In CWUR Ranking 2025, it ranks 707th globally and ranks 4th in Ireland. The ranking gives an idea that the university excels in research, sustainability, med-tech, marine science, and boasts 98% graduate employability with 110+ countries represented. The University of Galway has a great reputation for employment after graduation. It has a job placement rate among the highest in the country. About 96% of graduates are either in employment or further study after 6 months, while 83% are employed directly. Many graduates are employed in the IT industry, business, and science. Their employees include Google, Medtronic, Accenture, EY, Boston Scientific. Class XII marks 75–85% or higher from CBSE, ISC, or state boards. Relevant subjects like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, or Computer Science required as per course. English requirement: IELTS 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0) or TOEFL iBT 88+ / PTE 61+. Course-specific subject rules apply (Maths for IT/Engineering, Science for Biomedical). Apply through CAO or the university application portal before deadlines. Relevant 3–4 year bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Minimum 60–70% marks or equivalent GPA. Strong background in subjects related to the chosen course. English requirement: IELTS 6.5–7.0 (course dependent) or equivalent TOEFL/PTE. Documents needed: transcripts, CV, SOP, 1–2 recommendation letters.
